We are currently takeaway only until at least February 2021
Info for when reopen
We’re excited to welcome you back to Sheaf St Cafe and Bar from Monday 27 July. Here are the measures we have in place to keep you safe.
Automatic Hand Sanitiser Stations – these will be located throughout the venue, please feel free to use them as often as needed.
Host Role in Place – there will be someone to greet you on arrival to show you to a clean table.
Seating Only Venue – Sheaf St is temporarily a seating only venue. Please do not move any tables or chairs as they have been specifically placed to help with physical distancing between customers and staff.
Cleaning – sanitising and cleaning will regularly take place in all areas. Red and green cards will be used by staff to keep on top of table cleaning.
Social Distancing – reminder signage is in place throughout the venue, please follow government guidelines and keep a safe distance from others.
Test and Trace – on arrival you will be asked to register your details before entry to the venue. Your information will be securely stored for 21 days and shared with NHS test and trace staff if necessary.
Expanded space – we have expanded the cafe seating into our Event Space and Yarden to allow for safe distancing.
Cashless Venue – since April 2019 Sheaf St has been a cashless venue (see below)
Household Limits – we would like to ask all customers to follow government guidance on household limits in a group.
Dogs and children are welcome but children will need to stay seated and dogs kept under tables.
From the 8th of April 2019 ‘Sheaf St’ and ‘Duke Studios’ will be a cashless venue. This is across the whole building, the café, all bars, all events and all services. We will only accept card payments.
There will be no tills, no cash and no safes on the premises.
We have repeatedly been targeted by thieves and going fully cashless helps to ensure the safety of our staff and our building.
80% of transactions we’re already on card and moving to a full 100% also allows us to speed up service on busy events.
We researched and considered the decision long and hard. We are aware that being cashless impacts those who find the access to, or the use of card services difficult the most. We have our own internal policies in place to ensure all our customers have an accessible and enjoyable experience, please do get in touch if you have any questions.
There will be clear signage reminders throughout the venue. We accept all types of card payments, as well as contactless e-payments via smartphones, watches, and other devices.

Unfortunately, Sheaf St doesn’t have dedicated parking, however, we have on street parking surround streets and the Tetley Brewery sar park is directly opposite.
As a heritage building, there are certain restrictions on what we can do for accessibility but we have everything in place that we need to be an accessible venue and always try to accommodate to the best of our ability.
There is one single step at our main entrance which we have a portable ramp for. This is stored in a convenient place for easy access. Once in the building, everything is level.
Our main toilets do not have an accessible cubicle however we have a fully accessible toilet in our workspace. Our friendly members of staff will be able to give you a fob for the door and it’s just a short distance with a clear, flat path through our co-working space.
For Events here, there are no dedicated wheelchair spaces – we have movable seating so you’re welcome to sit wherever you feel comfortable. We have no lowered bars however our friendly bar staff are always on hand to help.
A hearing loop is in place in our main event space.
If an event is ticketed and you’re unable to purchase beforehand we’re usually able to reserve tickets to pick at up on the door (providing the event isn’t sold out)
Some of our events are run by promoters and some we put on ourselves. In both cases it may be possible to request a free ticket for a PA for anyone unable to attend without support.
Strobe lighting and smoke machines may be used at some of our events – we will put signage up when this is the case.
We welcome anyone who may need to bring food/drink or equipment needed to manage a medical condition. Refrigeration of medicine may also be possible. Please contact us before you arrive so we can let our security team know as searches for liquids are often in place.
Sheaf St is a dog-friendly venue including assistance dogs.
